Join Michael Boyd for two sessions of a live virtual workshop on his techniques and methods for setting stones on stones and metal on stone! Students will learn important tips for creating custom fit bezels for all manner of shapes, will see his steps for expertly drilling holes into stones, and will learn to create mountings with tube rivets and bonding agents. Explore ways of adding color, dimension, and texture to your work with stone layering techniques.

Format: Live online via Riverside- with slide demos, close-up tooling cams, and Q&A
Duration: Two – 2.5hr sessions
Skill Level: Intermediate–Advanced metalsmiths who are comfortable with basic stone setting and metal forming
Student provided tools and materials:
- Basic fabricating tools (e.g. tweezers, pliers, sheers)
- Torch setup (air acetylene, or oxy/ propane)
- Flex shaft or alternate (e.g. Dremel or micro-motor)
- Super glue (liquid- not gel)
- Super glue accelerator (Rio Grande)
- Glass dish with flat bottom (ash trays work well)
- Toothpicks
- Q-tips
- Particulate dust mask
- Safety glasses
- Pencil, Sharpie, notebook - for notes
- Rags/towels
